Awesome!

It’s always so fun to say that.

What is awesome? I thought about that and went looking for clues. Here’s what I found.

This is true under any circumstances. Image found Out There.

"Awesome" is a compliment to be proud of. Image found Out There.

Sometimes awesome can't be put into words. Image found Out There.

Jude from Bennington, VT writes:

Hey, T,

I’m a junior in college, but I still think Half Magic by Edward Eager is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I know it’s one of your favorites, too. I reread it this year on my birthday, and I liked it better than ever. It’s taken me a long time to decide on what I really want in life, and I have finally made a list. Here it is:

1. I want to explore the wide, open spaces, as well as the straight and narrow road.

2. I want to take chances, and I want to be safe.

3. I want to hold something close, and then I want to let it go.

4. I want to laugh until I cry and cry until it makes me laugh.

5. I want to meet good people and make some of them friends; cherish my friends and make some of them soul mates; and respect all good people alike.

6. I want a world where conflict is resolved through nonviolent means, where all wars are winnable and no wars ever need to be waged.

7. I want to understand the way things work, and I want to be mystified and amazed.

8. I want to be my own hero.

9. I want to learn from the best in others and bring out the best in myself.

The more I think about my list, the more I realize that it’s just a start. But I think it’s pretty good so far!

T replies:

Thanks for sharing, Jude! You make me want to get a list of my own going. I’ll probably start by copying yours, because everything you want, I want, too. Thanks for reminding me about Half Magic. I’m going to reread it right now!

halfmagic

Jane, her brother Mark, and her sisters Katharine and Martha are looking forward to a dull, dull summer until Jane finds a magic amulet. They soon discover that the charm grants wishes, but only half a wish at a time. Attempting to Thwart the Magic, they in turn are Thwarted. Fun, fresh, and original, Half Magic is PURE magic. If you haven’t read it yet, you’re in for a treat!
